Dance Beyond Borders grows through long-term relationships with artists, activists, cultural organisations, community partners and international networks.  Each collaboration enriches our practice, and supports us to expand possiblities of our work.

Deborah Falzon

Flamenco • Transcultural Counselling  • Production

Deborah is a Flamenco Dance Artist and Transcultural Counsellor, bridging dance and wellbeing to nurture empowerment, healing and transformation. Rooted in flamenco, her artistic practice moves across performance, community participation, education and production. Previously based in Seville, she performs, choreographs and directs traditional, contemporary and interdisciplinary works, all grounded in co-creation. Besides her role with Dance Beyond Borders, she is a practitioner with ARDA Collective, guest lectures in the Dance and Music Departments at the University of Malta, and facilitates flamenco dance workshops with people from diverse backgrounds across vocational and community settings. Driven by a passion for social justice, her practice is founded in collaboratively exploring how artistic and cultural practice can encourage conversations, nurture empathy and build meaningful connections.

Julienne Schembri

Somatic Movement  •  Producer 

Julienne is a movement artist, creative producer and educator whose practice explores how the arts can foster dialogue, belonging and social change. Rooted in somatic movement through the Laban Bartenieff Movement System, she works at the intersection of artistic practice, cultural facilitation and community engagement. Her artistic practice has been shaped by over a decade working across London's performing arts sector before returning to Malta to focus on socially engaged artistic practice. Alongside her work with Dance Beyond Borders, she is a performer with ARDA Collective and a Faculty member at the EMOVE Institute in the Netherlands, University of Malta and MCAST Institute. Her work is rooted in the belief that embodied creative practice can deepen self-awareness, strengthen relationships and create new possibilities for dialogue across difference.
